The House of Q's Holiday Tree (and other decor)

Hey Y'all,

The holidays are in full swing!  I always make a big deal for my husband for Christmas. He is like a kid when it comes to the holidays and it's so fun to view the festivities through his eyes!

Now, let's get to the decorations...

This beauty is our main tree for our home. The picture is a little dark so I included a lighter shot below. This tree and garland took hours to create and I still tweak it now and then. The theme for the main tree this year is natural elegance with southern adornments There are 20 magnolia and pine cone bushes on the tree along with cream, gold and silver ornaments. My sister made the stockings and I love them! The stockings blend right in with our decorations and are personalized!

This is a much clearer picture that allows you to see the details of the decorations. At the top of the                        tree close to the bow is a gold "C" and "W" for the two lovebirds in the house :)

I found this gorgeous ribbon last year and have used it sparingly to make it stretch over a few years. I just love how the craft paper blends with the ribbon that also coordinates with the tree. Leopard/chettah print is a neutral as far as I'm concerned but I don't want to overdo it.
Tip: always buy ribbon that is wired. You can twist, turn and bend it into anything you want!

My momSandra decided that she wanted the guest room (her room when she's staying with us) decorated with snowmen and old-fashioned ornaments. I made certain that she got both.

This picture is one of my absolute favorite and I have it framed in our home. This is my mother-in-law, Linda with Santa Claus around 1953 or 1954. The picture was taken in Defuniak Springs, Florida (her hometown).  I think she looks just like Shirley Temple! Whatever she was telling him, she looked serious about it.

Speaking of my mother-in-law, take a look at a few shots I took of her home during Christmas 2013. She makes things look so beautiful and welcoming.

I love the slim trees that she uses. This was one of EIGHT trees she decorated for Christmas 2013.

 That bow, though! It's perfect!

Another gorgeous tree.

Chuck and his dad opening gifts. Our baby, Andy always wants to be in the middle of the action.

The most handsome man in the world.. with a lap full of dogs :)

Stay tuned for a special guest post from Piper, blogger of Starting Out Southern . More details coming soon!

Until next time!
