Preparing Your Home for Thanksgiving...

Hey Y'all!

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and soon our homes will be full of family, friends and tons of food! Now is the time to get your home (and yourself) ready for the influx of extra people and food.

I'm a planner and organizer by nature and love a well-thought list. I like this Thanksgiving Checklist from Simply Frugal because it is detailed but concise. To download the document, click here and follow the link.

I also like this planning checklist from The Country Chic Cottage.  To download the printable,  click here

If Thanksgiving recipes are what you need, I like this list from How I Pinch a Penny.  The list has 25 different recipes for your crock pot. I have two crock pots and don't know how I ever made it without them! I use my crock pots at least twice a week because they make cooking so much simpler.

If you are thinking about buying one (or two), I suggest this Hamilton-Beach crock pot. It has an extra large 8 quart capacity and a handy holder for the lid.  I also like this one from Crock Pot because it has large capacity, is travel-friendly and has digital controls. It has more bells and whistles than the Hamilton-Beach for only a few bucks more.

I don't do a lot of decorating for fall/Thanksgiving because I'm usually focused on Christmas. Our townhouse is short on square footage so I am really limited on the amount of things I have sitting out.

One area that I do decorate is the front porch. I made this wreath below for about $10. I had a grapevine wreath left over from another project. I bought two fall picks (2/$5 because they were 40% off) from Michael's as well as the fall bow (it was pre-made also from Michael's- $4.99). I arranged the picks, placed the bow and I was finished. It turned out really well.

I went back to Michael's a few days later and bought a second bow for my grapevine tree. My tree came from the cutest little shop in my hometown. The shop is named Antique Junkshun. Check it out here.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's pictures from Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Stay up-to-date on Black Friday sales here from your favorite retailers.

Until next time...
