Southern Spotlight- Amy Clark

Hey Y'all!

Happy Saturday to each of you! For today's Southern Spotlight, I introduce to you, Amy Clark. Amy is married to a dear college friend of mine and we have become "virtual" friends thanks to Facebook. Amy has recently had a precious baby girl (Lauren) and launched a new business, Traveling Vineyard.

Traveling Vineyard is a very neat direct sales company that brings wine tasting parties into your home for you and your friends to enjoy. Order from your very own "Wine Guide" and have the bottles delivered to your doorstep. You get to taste fantastic wine in the comfort of your own home with your friends and then order what  you love. I love this idea! For more information about the company, please click here.

I recently interviewed Amy for my blog. Check out my questions and her answers below and some wonderful pictures that Amy was kind enough to share with my readers.

Describe yourself in five words…

Witty, dreamer, traveler, mother, wife.

Tell me and my readers about your new business venture.

I'm so excited to be part of this wonderful company! I'm an Independent Wine Guide with The Traveling Vineyard which is a direct sales company. When someone hosts a tasting I go to the home and bring five unique, delicious wines, all of the glasses and fun wine accessories. The host pays nothing at all!

The only responsibility of the host is to invite plenty of wine loving friends & provide a small variety of snacks that I can help pick out which pairs well with the wines I'm bringing for the tasting. A typical tasting lasts around 45 minutes to one hour. During the tasting we go through each wine, learn a bit about them, sample the wines by themselves and again with a food that they pair nicely with and try out all of the accessories! (I can't get enough of the aerator!)

After the tasting I will take time to answer any questions and take up guest’s orders, then clean up and leave the host and guests to enjoy what's left of the five bottles of wines we tried. It's a ton of fun! I earn a small profit and credits that go towards getting additional wines for my upcoming tastings from the sales at each tasting.

If anyone would like additional information about our wines or to book a tasting please feel free to email me at travelingwineguide@gmail.com or visit my website at www.myttv.com/amyclark

Keys to a happy marriage?

Patience. Patience. Patience. Marriage can be the most wonderful thing in the world and at the same time the most stressful. It's also very important to take time out to spend quality time alone with your spouse. Paul and I love going to Lexington and hanging out at one of our favorite wineries or just taking a little day trip. Even though we spend a big majority of the time shopping for things for Lauren and talking about her it's still nice to be just the two of us.

Tell me about your faith/church…

For the better part of 15-16 years I have gone to Bridges Christian Church in Russell, KY. Our church, while one of the largest in the area, feels like a tight knit family. Everyone knows & cares about each other. Our church is extremely involved with missions locally, nationally and internationally. I was baptized at our church in 2003 by a close family friend and the church's mission’s minister, Mark Angel. Tragically, Mark passed away in 2007 while on a mission trip to Mexico with our church. His love for the Lord and passion for missions greatly influenced my life and faith. I have gone on several mission trips to Haiti which were extremely life changing! A huge chunk of my heart will always belong to the sweet people and country of Haiti. We are currently helping to build a church plant in Ecuador where my husband and I have just begun sponsoring an adorable little eight year old boy.

What is your favorite color?

Plum purple and Kentucky blue!

What is your favorite season?

Spring/Fall (which are unfortunately the two seasons that Kentucky decides to skip).

What’s your decorating style?

My decorating style changes with the seasons!  In the spring I'm all about bright colors and unique prints, during the summer I can't stop looking at Coastal Living magazines and dreaming of buying a beach house then fall and winter I'm all about cozy, rich colors and a contemporary cottage feel.

Your baby girl, Lauren is adorable! Tell my readers about your little girl (i.e. personality, recent developments, etc.)

Thank you!  She's my absolute pride and joy! She turns ONE on April 26th! This year has absolutely flown by. Lauren is a fiery little redhead that is full of spunk and fun. She has recently started walking all over the place and climbing up stairs! I think I have five or six heart attacks a day! She's definitely my heart and soul. I can't even remember life before she came along!

What does it mean (in your opinion) to be a woman who has it all?

I don't think there's anyone out there who truly has it all. Personally, in the marital/monetary aspect of life I'm slacking in areas but when it comes to my family I couldn't ask for anymore! I'm drowning in love and laughter! I have an outstanding, giving, loving, hilarious family; a husband that would go to the moon and back for me and a daughter that brings more joy to my life than I have ever known. We are blessed with amazing experiences and opportunities. So, I'm not really sure how to answer this question because I can't say that I have it all, but I do have more than I deserve!

How do you balance it all?

Wine and Jesus (haha)!  Also my loving and supportive husband! For almost seven years now Paul has put up with me changing my mind and constantly trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. I know that whatever crazy idea I throw out there he'll be right by my side encouraging me to do what makes me the happiest (If only I could figure out what that is). He's also such a wonderful daddy, he doesn't think twice about taking care of our sweet girl. That even includes jumping up in the middle of the night to comfort her! I'm truly blessed!

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Hopefully by then we will have won the lottery and are jet setting around the world! That, or picking Lauren up from school in my custom hovercraft with built in wine chiller.

Until next time...
